Can You Help Us Feed Local Families In Need This Christmas?
The festive period is usually a time of joy and merriment. But for thousands of families living in poverty, the expectation of Christmas can add to the burden of everyday life. And sadly, in some cases, families living right here in the North East will go hungry, whilst the rest of us feast on our Christmas dinner.
So this year, J&B Recycling are teaming up with an amazing charity, Feeding Families, to help those in need.
Feeding Families is a charity based in the North East that offers support, hope and security to those experiencing food poverty across the region. Throughout November they are collecting donations of food essentials and a few luxury items, that can be distributed to local individuals and families who have fallen on hard times.
The team here at J&B Recycling will be reusing their old shoeboxes or delivery boxes and filling them with essentials from the checklist provided by Feeding Families… and we would love it if you could help support us (and them) by doing the same!
If you are able to organise an internal collection at your place of work, we will happily take all boxes in to be distributed along with our own… there’ll definitely be the opportunity for a few social pics and tags to help showcase your support.
Better still, could you be a public drop-off point? If your business can act as a public drop off point, we will happily promote it on our website and social media posts to help boost our joint efforts! And we can collect any boxes you collect and deliver them to Feeding Families main distribution centre.
We are asking for kind donations of boxes filled with a selection of the items listed below. There are no limitations on branding or sizes, however Feeding Families does ask that only the items listed are donated! Feeding Families’ motto is ‘Nothing is wasted’ and so we encourage you to reuse your delivery/shoe/parcel boxes to fill with goods for those in need.
There isn’t long to organise this! In order to get the food boxes checked and distributed to the people who need them, our truck needs to leave on 30th December! So we kindly ask that all donations are made by 4pm on 29th November.
The charity’s CEO, Juliet Sanders is delighted that J&B Recycling are supporting their efforts this Christmas. She says,
"I am delighted that J&B Recycling are getting behind our Christmas campaign and the mission of Feeding Families. One of our mottos is "Nothing is wasted" and we look for every opportunity to recycle and reuse so it's great to be backed by a company with the same ethos. We look forward to receiving your support and it will make a massive difference to local families."
J&B Recycling’s Managing Director, Vikki Jackson-Smith, is delighted to be supporting such a wonderful, local cause. She says,
“It is heart-breaking to think about so many people going hungry, particularly at Christmas. This year has been especially hard for lots of individuals and businesses, and we understand from Juliet and her team that there has been a significant increase in demand for emergency food supplies.
“The requests for support come from social services and GPs, and they work with lots of other local charities to help identify families in need, because most people don’t come forward for support. As well as supporting the charity with food donations, we want to help raise their profile so that people feel able to ask for support when they need it. Anyone could fall on hard times!"
