A 35ft inflatable Grinch has recently appeared outside one Hartlepool home in a bid to raise money for local charity, Alice House Hospice.
The Grinch has appeared outside of local businessman Ray Liddell’s home in Park Avenue, Hartlepool with the goal to raise £10,000 for Alice House Hospice in memory of his father who was cared for by the hospice earlier this year.
As a Patron of the Hospice since 2006, J&B Recycling, has sponsored £1,000 for the fantastic efforts in support for this cause.
Janice Forbes, Community Fundraiser at Alice House Hospice, said: “It has been an extremely challenging year in terms of fundraising and unlike anything we have ever known. Most of our usual fundraising events have either been cancelled or severely compromised, our charity shops have been forced to close for much of the year too. Overall, we anticipate a loss of around £1.5million in fundraising income as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
“We are so grateful to J&B Recycling for their ongoing support as members of our Guild of Patrons, as well as the additional sponsorship we have received for the Grinch, as part of the current ‘Grow Your Hart Fund.’
“This is a phenomenal success that took us by surprise and at the time of writing had raised over £15,000 for local Hospice care. It’s become such a huge attraction for the town and is a great boost to our funding, as well as a really positive story during tough times. We are really grateful to Ray Liddell and his family for launching this incredible appeal.”
Based in Hartlepool, Alice House Hospice provides care to those suffering life-limiting illness or support to those affected by the death of a loved one.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 has had a detrimental impact on the charity’s usual fundraising efforts and is estimated to have resulted in a loss of income, therefore the Liddell family and Alice House are encouraging people to safely go and visit to see the Grinch and to donate anything they can via Just Giving to help them reach their goal.
J&B Recycling has over the years provided £70,000 in support of its local Hospice and nominated charity, Alice House and pledges a donation of at least £5,000 every year.
Vikki Jackson-Smith, CEO of J&B Recycling, said: “As a Patron of this incredible charity and to mark Christmas we are proud to sponsor this amazing effort on the behalf of all staff at J&B Recycling.
“It has been a difficult year for fundraising for Alice House and to be able to support a charity which does so much to help local people in the community is very important to us. The work of the Liddell family is outstanding.”
