J&B Recycling is showing its support to a variety of initiatives across the region this month that are encouraging people to spend money with North East businesses this Christmas.

The Tees Valley Combined Authority has recently launched the ‘Buy local. Support local this Christmas' campaign to encourage Tees Valley residents to take to the online virtual window shop to buy fantastic products and services for their loved ones.

Vikki Jackson-Smith, CEO at J&B Recycling, said: “As a North East-based business we know how important it is to support companies in the local community.

“Particularly with the difficult year we have faced, North East people and businesses must continue to support each other to ensure we come out stronger from the difficult time facing us.”

We have focused on spending locally this year; in the months of April, May and June 2020 we spent £311,131 within the North East, 80% of which was within the Teesside area on items such as health and safety equipment and machine and vehicle parts.

The Tees Valley Combined Authority’s online guide shows everything you could possibly need from great businesses in Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton, from Christmas decorations and hampers all the way through to radio shops.

But the Tees Valley isn’t the only area in the North East offering these local incentives for Christmas. Sunderland City Council and Sunderland BID have joined for Sunderland to become the first city in the North East to launch its own high street gift card scheme.

The cards will enable the recipients to spend the value at a whole range of outlets citywide including cinemas, shops, beauty salons, restaurants and bars and are the perfect gift for those loved ones who can be difficult to buy for.
